English Translation
You lick Your lips while devouring all the creatures from every side with flaming mouths which are completely filling the entire world with heat.
Detailed Commentary
।।11.30।। **Explanation** -- 'Le-lihyase grasamānaḥ samantāl lokān samagrān vadanair jvaladbhiḥ' -- You are annihilating all beings and repeatedly devouring them into your blazing mouths with the flick of your tongue, so that none can escape hither and thither. This implies that no being can escape the grasp of Bhagavan in His Kala-rupa (form of Time). 'Tejobhir āpūrya jagat samagraṁ bhāsas tavogrāḥ pratapanti Viṣṇo' -- The teja (radiance) of Bhagavan in His Virāṭ-rupa (Cosmic Form) is exceedingly ugra (fierce/intense). This ugra teja, spreading throughout the entire cosmos, is tormenting and distressing all. **Context** -- Bhagavan in His Virāṭ-rupa revealed His wondrous forms. Seeing all beings and warriors entering the mouths of His dreadful and fierce form, Arjuna became deeply terrified. Therefore, Arjuna questions to know the true identity of Bhagavan, who bears an extremely ugra form.
