॥ श्लोक ॥

असौ मया हतः शत्रुर्हनिष्ये चापरानपि | ईश्वरोऽहमहं भोगी सिद्धोऽहं बलवान्सुखी ||१६-१४||

Transliteration

asau mayā hataḥ śatrurhaniṣye cāparānapi . īśvaro.ahamahaṃ bhogī siddho.ahaṃ balavānsukhī ||16-14||

English Translation

'That enemy has been killed by me, and I shall kill others as well. I am the lord, I am the enjoyer, I am well-established, mighty and happy.'

Detailed Commentary

Individuals possessing *asuri sampada* (demonic qualities) are steeped in anger and think thus: "I must destroy my enemy. Was he against us? We have gotten rid of him, and we will do the same with others. Those who oppose us, we will teach them a lesson and eliminate them. I am God -- I am prosperous, I possess wealth, strength, and intellect. I have everything. Who can compare to me? I am entitled to *bhog* (worldly enjoyment) -- I possess objects of pleasure like women, homes, and cars. I am *siddh* (perfected/accomplished) -- what I said earlier was correct. Others' *bhajan*, *jap*, and *dhyan* (devotional singing, chanting, meditation) are futile. These people are deluded by someone. No one is *siddh* like me. I have attained all *siddhis* (supernatural powers) like *Anima*, *Garima*, etc. I can turn everyone to ashes with a single breath. I am mighty -- I have defeated whomever I wished. But if I ever lose, I don't tell others, lest they consider me weak. We don't remember our defeats; instead, we remember matters of pride. I am *sukhi* (happy/contented) -- I possess *sukh* (happiness) and comfort. No one is as happy as I am." Such people harbor jealousy within, but outwardly they boast.
