Detailed Commentary
18.58. Explanation – *Maccittaḥ sarvadurgāṇi matprasādāt tariṣyasi* – The Lord states that if you fix your *citta* on Me, by My *kṛpā* you will overcome all obstacles, and no effort will be required. The devotee offers all their *karma* to the Lord and surrenders themselves to the Lord. Turning away from the incidental desires of the world, they establish a connection with the Lord. If any deficiency remains or *ahaṅkāra* arises, it will be removed by the Lord's grace. This means the devotee only needs to make an effort from their side; the rest will be accomplished by the Lord's *kṛpā*. Humanity's transgression is that it has forged a connection with the world and turned away from the Lord. Now, one should break ties with the world and turn towards the Lord. Moreover, whatever deficiency remains will be fulfilled by the Lord's *kṛpā*. The rules and injunctions of the *śāstras* apply only to those who have a connection with the world. A person who takes *Bhagavad-śaraṇa* transcends these rules. They will overcome all impediments by the Lord's *kṛpā*. The Lord says, "If, out of *ahaṅkāra*, you do not heed My words, you will fall." Here, the Lord tells Arjuna that by My *kṛpā*, you will overcome all impediments. The power inherent in the Lord's *kṛpā* is not found in other *sādhanas*. It is humanity's *dharma* to endeavor to attain the *Paramātman*. This human body has been bestowed for this very purpose. If a balanced individual does not attain *Paramātman*, they will have to return to the cycle of the world. *Bhagavad-prāpti* is humanity's *parama lakṣya*. By the Lord's *kṛpā*, *jñāna* illuminates the *antaḥkaraṇa* of devotees, and they overcome all impediments. The Lord states that by My grace, there will be no fear of downfall. Arjuna had the fear that engaging in war would incur *pāpa*. The Lord assured him that by My *kṛpā*, all impediments and *pāpa* would be removed.
