English Translation
Through the favour of Vyasa I heard this secret concerning the supreme Yoga from Krsna, the Lord of yogas, while He Himself was actually speaking!
Detailed Commentary
Explanation – By the grace of Vyasa, I heard this dialogue directly. When Sanjaya hears the entire dialogue between Bhagavan Shri Krishna and Arjuna, he becomes delighted. He states that he heard such a supremely confidential Yoga by the grace of Vyasa. This means that Bhagavan conversed with Arjuna through His beloved words, and all this dialogue I heard by the grace of Vyasa. *Etad Guhyam Param Yogam* (This supreme, most confidential Yoga) – This Gitashastra Yoga, spoken by the great Yogeshwara Bhagavan, is supremely excellent and confidential. There is no dialogue as excellent and confidential as this. The eternal relationship of the *Jiva* (individual soul) with Bhagavan is called Yoga. To realize this, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, etc., have been described, and they are explained in the Gita. "From Yogeshwara Krishna, I have heard this myself" – Sanjaya's joy knows no bounds. He says with delight that he heard this Yoga from the mouth of Bhagavan Shri Krishna Himself. By using these words, Sanjaya wishes to convey that he heard this dialogue not through any tradition, but heard Bhagavan Himself speaking it.
