Bhagavad Gita Chapter 6, Verse 30

English Translation

One who sees Me in everything, and sees all things in Me-I do not out of his vision, and he also is not lost to My vision.

Detailed Commentary

Explanation: 'Yo mām paśyati sarvatra' – The devotee who beholds Me in every place, time, object, being, animal, bird, deity, Yakṣa, Rākṣasa, substance, situation, and event. For instance, when Brahmā stole the calves and cowherd boys, Bhagavan Śrī Kṛṣṇa Himself transformed into the calves and cowherd boys. Not just the calves and cowherd boys, but even their staffs, horns, flutes, clothes, ornaments, etc., Bhagavan Himself became. This *Līlā* continued for a year, yet no one became aware of it. The young calves remained at home, and the older calves were taken to the forest by Bhagavan Śrī Kṛṣṇa. One day, Balarāma saw that even the cows whose young calves were at home rushed to feed their older calves upon seeing them. The older *Gopas* tried hard, but they could not stop the cows. When the *Gopas* saw their own children, their anger subsided, and affection welled up. They embraced their children and blessed them. Witnessing this *Līlā*, Balarāma pondered what this was; he meditated and then saw Bhagavan Śrī Kṛṣṇa in the forms of the calves and cowherd boys. Similarly, a *siddha bhakta* of Bhagavan sees only Bhagavan everywhere, meaning in his perception, no other existence holds sway apart from Bhagavan. 'Sarvam cha mayi paśyati' – And the devotee who sees space, time, objects, persons, events, situations, etc., within Me. For example, during the narration of the Gītā, at Arjuna's request, Bhagavan revealed His *Viśvarūpa* and said, "Behold this entire universe contained within a part of Me." Arjuna also states, "I see all beings within Your body." Sañjaya also said that Arjuna saw the entire world within Bhagavan's body. The import is that Arjuna saw everything within Bhagavan's body as Bhagavan Himself. Similarly, whatever the devotee sees, hears, and understands, he sees everything within Bhagavan. 'Tasyāham na praṇaśyāmi' – When the devotee sees only Me everywhere, how can I hide from him, where can I hide? Therefore, I do not remain invisible to that devotee; that is, I am constantly present before him. 'Sa cha me na praṇaśyati' – When the devotee sees Bhagavan everywhere, Bhagavan also sees the devotee everywhere; because it is Bhagavan's rule: 'As they surrender to Me, so do I grant them refuge.' The implication is that the devotee and Bhagavan become inseparable; therefore, Bhagavan sees them everywhere in His own form. From this perspective, the devotee is never invisible to Bhagavan. Here, a question arises: Since no one is invisible to Bhagavan, why is it stated only for the devotee, 'he is not invisible to Me'? The solution is that although no one is invisible to Bhagavan, because of the devotion of one who sees Bhagavan everywhere, Bhagavan also sees him everywhere. For one who is averse to Bhagavan and attached to the world, Bhagavan remains invisible. Therefore, that person also remains invisible to Bhagavan. The lesser the devotion towards Bhagavan, the more invisible one remains to Bhagavan. Bhagavan also stated in the Ninth Chapter: 'I am equal to all beings. No one is My enemy, nor is anyone dear to Me. But those who worship Me with devotion, they are in Me, and I am in them.' Connection – Now Bhagavan describes the characteristics of the *siddha bhakta Yogī* who meditates.
