Detailed Commentary

।।6.47।। Explanation: 'Yoginamapi Sarvesham' – Those who have turned away from worldly pursuits and are striving to realize their true identity are called Yogis. They are superior to all ascetics, Jnanis, and Karmis. But among all these Yogis, the one who establishes a relationship with Me, that Bhakti-Yogi, is the supreme. 'Shraddhavan' – One who has faith and trust in Me, that devotee, performs bhajana with a mind completely dedicated to Me. 'Madgatenantaratmana Mam Bhajate' – When someone's mind accepts Me as their own, they naturally become absorbed in Me. Just as a girl's attention naturally turns to her in-laws after marriage, similarly, My relationship resides in Bhakti. A person who considers Bhagavan as everything, all their actions – eating, drinking, sleeping, waking, etc. – become Bhajana. The true devotee's aim is to perform all actions for My pleasure; there is no worldly attachment in them. 'Sa Me Yuktatamo Matah' – Those Yogis who have turned away from the world and are striving for their liberation are called 'Yukta'. Those who take refuge in the Saguna-Nirakara Paramatma are 'Yuktatara'. But those who are solely devoted to Me, in My view, they are 'Yuktatama'. It is for this very perfection in attainment that Bhagavan considers them supreme. A 'Yuktatama' devotee is never deviated from Yoga (Yoga-bhrashta) because their mind is always fixed on Bhagavan. In any situation, even in suffering, Bhagavan never abandons them. At the end of this chapter, Bhagavan has clearly stated 'Sa Me Yuktatamo Matah', indicating that Bhakti Yoga is considered supreme. Bhagavan always embraces His devotees. A special point is that Karma Yogis, Jnana Yogis, etc., are all detached from the world. However, the Bhakti Yogi's personal relationship with Bhagavan makes them superior to other Yogis. Even in the 'Brahmabhuta Avastha', there is no trace of ego in them because they are content in Bhagavan's divine plan. Thus, Bhagavan calls the devotee supreme because the rasa of Bhakti continuously grows in novelty and is a refuge in Bhagavan. Through 'Yoga-kshemam Vahamyaham', Bhagavan carries all the burdens of the devotee. Thus, the Sixth Chapter, named Atmasamyama Yoga, in the Shrimad Bhagavad Gitopanishad, is concluded.
